I am a teacher. At the school I work at we use a LAN'S.
I want to know if I can plug a computer into the the wall
jack using a cat 5 cable and then plug a Xerox printer
into another wall jack using a cat 5 cable and then print
to the the printer from the computer. If so, how do I
configure the computer to print to the printer using the
above method?

The devil is in the details. Not all printers are network
enabled, although most can be attached to print servers to
put them on a network. There also needs to be a switch or
hub associated with the two jacks (except possibly in the
unlikely event those are the only two devices on the network)
and both the printer and computer must be appropriately
configured (the details of which will vary with the particular
devices involved, but will involve basic network parameters,
printer redirection/access/sharing drivers, and print formatting
drivers, at least).

So the best thing to do would be to find whoever configured
the network and discuss it with them, and/or read the documentation
for the printer. There are just too many details to do a full
discussion here.

It is possible to make something like that work, but there are
myriad details involved.
