I have a Canon USB printer attached to an XP Pro Computer,
It is set to share with full printing rights
to "Everyone". It works fine on all of the other XP Pro
computers but on most of the Windows 98 PC's I can see it
in network neighbourhood but can't access it to set up the
printer or use it.

Help!

Hi

I was wondering if you figured it out, because I am having
the same problem, I have windows 2K, and 98, I can see
from 2K to 98 but not the other way around.
Any ideas why?, know this is microsoft authentication issue
but any solutions?

Thanks

Eric

Please reply to this message in the news group (not by E-mail) with
more information to help other people understand the problem.

How are you seeing the printer on the Windows 98 PCs?

How are you trying to access it? What exactly happens when you do it?
If there's an error message, what does it say?

I can view the XP Computer in Network Neighbourhood and in
Browse to add a network printer, but when I click on it it
says that it is not available, except for 1 Win '98 PC
whhich it did work for.

The XP PC can see and access Win '98 PC's, so I think it
is a security issue in XP.

Any other questions?

The actual message when I click on the "XP" computer
named "PENTIUM4" in Windows 98's Network Neighbourhood is:
"\\PENTIUM4 is not accessible. This device does not exist
on the network"

The Windows '98 PC can be accessed by the "XP" computer
but not vice versa.

Thanks for your help.
