Hello,
I am handling a network with a Windows 2000 Server and about 1
workstations. All workstations are Windows XP Pro with the exceptio
of 3 that are Windows 2000 Professional. Recently, the Windows 200
Pro machines cannot access any shares located on the Domain Controller
Everything was working great for a couple years, and then all of
sudden, the Win2k machines stopped being able to use the shares. Whe
I click on a mapped drive I get the message "There are currently n
logon servers, etc." I disjoined one of the Win2k machines from th
domain and after placing it into a Workgroup, I rejoined it to th
domain with the same results. I can ping the server by both name an
IP, but if I try to access a share, I get the message "There ar
currently no logon servers, etc.". Also on one of the new XP machines
I constantly have to re-authenticate. Every now and then afte
rebooting the new xp machine, it will ask me for a username an
password when I click on a mapped drive even though I entered a vali
username and password upon logging in.

Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Dann

Sounds like name resolution issue. I would check the DNS settings first.

I went in today and specified an external time server using "net tim
/sntp:<ntpserver>" for the DC to use. Forced a resync using we32tm -
and now all is fine. I don't understand why the XP Pro machines wer
still able to authenticate properly when the Windows 2k machines wer
not, but after I did the above steps, everything works perfectly.

Thank you for your time,

Dann
