Windows 2008 Remote Access Issue

Windows SS 2008 R2 allows remote console access via Linux machines, but I
can't get it to work.

If I access the machine from a browser <ipaddressofmachine>/desktop I get a
rdp type of connection. Microsoft state this can be acheived from Firefox
for example, on Linux machines with java 1.4.2

It works fine for me using Internet Explorer and XP workstations etc, but
using Firefox I get:

Anyone have any ideas?

The Web-based RDP ActiveX component needs to be installed under Firefox, but
I am not sure if FireFox supports ActiveX. I don't use FireFox due to
limitations such as this. If it supports it, you'll have to allow it.

Any reason you are using Firefox and not IE?

The reason for the multiple posts is that I had failures when posting, and
nothing appeared. This is due to the fact it did not like the added text I
was quoting from a Microsoft statement. Even after pasting in to a standard
text file and then copying from there it failed (twice), then they appeared!

Very frustrating!

Anyway, in short, the article states that this feature can be used in a
Linux environment using Firefox and even quotes the versions.

I don't want to attempt to post it again in case it fails again, but suffice
to say it is there in black and white. If you go to this blog
http://blogs.technet.com/storageserver/default.aspx and then search for
/desktop you will see a short statement.

It happened again! Even when replying to this I get:

Article too large? Are you posting an attachment? I believe there's a 100k
limit.

I read the statement. It indicates it needs ActiveX. Are you allowing
ActiveX installations in FireFox? That's all it needs. If tbe option to
install ActiveX (and other scripting components) is disabled in FF's
options, it will not install when you connect using the browser.
