I have a eval copy of 2k3 server. I want to be able to connect to the server
from my xp pro computer. Evertime I try it say access is denied. I have a
workgroup setup. I have the server confiqured as a stand alone machine.

Make sure that you have a local user account on the server that matches the
logon/password that you use to logon to the XP Pro computer and double check
that the built in ICF firewall is disabled on the Windows 2003 Server. ---

I have a user account that I created on the server and its the same as I
login on the xp pro. I also have turned the built in firewall off. Still does
not work.

Can the client ping the server by name? If not, can it ping by IP
address?

See if you can connect by IP address of the server as in
\\xxx.xxx.xxx.xxx\sharename in the run box of your client computer. If that
works you have a problem with the browse list and/or name resolution. Try
pinging the server by IP address and name. --- Steve
