Hi.

Will it be possible to replicate Active Directory to a second server
(running IBM Lotus Domino) - I.e. Promote the second server running
Domino to a Windows Active Directory domain controller?

I know that Domino uses LDAP and AD replicates with LDAP as well.

Hello Thomas,

See here about synchronization:

You cannot promote an IBM machine to Windows. You have to install a Windows
server edition to promote it to a DC.

Hi Meinolf.

Sorry if my post was not clear enaough.
The Domino server is already installed and running on a Windows Server
2003 Standard Edition.

My question is related to whether it will be possible to promote this
server (with Domino) to a peer domain controller for our 'primary'
domain controller and have them replicate AD without interrupting Domino
server tasks. And if it is an issue with both Domino and the DC running
LDAP, is there a workaround to the problem? I.E. Port redirection
forinstance...

Hello Thomas,

I have no idea if this works together, think you should better ask this in
a IBM forum. At least create a test domain to try it before promoting it
on production.

Hi Meinolf.

Thanks for getting back to me on this!
I'm already in the middle of a conversation with some guys with
knowledge about Domino servers in another forum and I was asking the
question in this forum only to get a second opinion from guys with
Microsoft server experience.
