Hi,

I need to implement a wireless solution using WPA.

The trouble is that I can't see any way to enable WPA on Windows 2003.

The fix that exists for Windows XP is not available for XP.

Is WPA support planned for Windows 2003 server ?

Thanks,

--Richard.

Hi,

I've this same problem. I don't know solution. Do you known, maybe this
patch exist on Windows Update? I can't use Windows Update, because I'm don't
have access to internet on this W2K3 and I can't found this patch on
Microsoft website. If update doesn't exist there is total discredit Windows
Server 2003.

Greetings Richard,

You need to obtain a WPA update from your wireless network adapter vendor
and update the wireless network adapter driver.

For Windows wireless clients, you must obtain an updated network adapter
driver that supports WPA. For wireless network adapter drivers that are
compatible with Windows XP (Service Pack 1) and Windows Server 2003, the
updated network adapter driver must be able to pass the adapter's WPA
capabilities and security configuration to the Wireless Zero Configuration
service.

Clients running Windows Server 2003 and using a wireless network adapter
that does not support the Wireless Zero Configuration service), you must
obtain and install a new WPA-compliant configuration tool from your wireless
network adapter vendor.

HTH

/Gill

To add on to my previous post, Windows 2003 SP1 would add built-in support
for Wi-Fi Protected Access (WPA).

Here is the Windows 2003 SP1 (now in RC, download is at
http://www.microsoft.com/downloads/d...isplayLang=en).

Kind Regards
Gill

Hi Gill,

I was able to install the Windows 2003 SP1 (RC).

And yes, regarding the Wifi-WPA, it works !

The GUI is a little bit strange, but effective. I am happy with it.

Thanks,

--Richard.

Richard I am running a network at home two boxes are winxp the other is
Win2k3 Server. I have two MN-710's and a MN-700 Access point. The AP is on
one of the XP boxes. I have enabled WPA via the AP GUI. This client connects
fine. My Server 2k3 box which has sp1 loaded is having probs connecting. I
have gone into Wireless policies and I have enabled WPA support. There are
three options with WPA in group policy one is TKIP, two is AES, Three is WEP.
Well when I set it WPA I then try to get the server to connect to the Network
and can't. I can enter the key from the in the new wifi Gui but I can't seem
to enter it on the adapter. It seems you have beed down this road. Can you
please help me with the settings in group policy I need to use and how to set
the adapter on the Server.

Kind regards,
Ric Nagy
