I am having a problem getting the file & print sharing to work on the 2000
machine. I can see the XP from the 2000 machine, but cannot get the 2000
files from XP. When I go into network I see a password box. I cannot get past
this screen.

Any thoughts on what might be wrong? This is my first attempt at file sharing

Try:

On the Windows 2000 machine create a new user account with a user name and
password that exactly matches the user name and password used to log onto
the XP machine. You do not need to log onto Windows 2000 with the new
account - just create it.

In the Control Panel>Administrative Tools. My Win2k box isn't on right
now but IIRC you'll see Computer Management and under that, Users and
Groups. You can use Action to make a new User. You should be able to
take it from there.
