Hi all,

I know I can set a mandatory profile for all Win9x users to use the same
settings I created in the home directory. However, upon log on to the
machine, even though the user would be using the same setting upon logon but
he's still allow to change the wallpaper and other settings. May I know how
to entirely disable all these features for Win9x through Active Directory?

Regards,
Ryan

You cannot. Windows 9x is not an Active Directory domain member so settings
in it are not transferred to computers.

Hi there,

I have tested out with the mandatory user profile for Win9x users. I found
that the changes to the screensaver is not applicable to the profile,
meaning the screensaver settings would be saved into the local machine.
Even with user.man, i could still make changes to the screensaver and it
would be the same setting as I've set. Is this by design? The wallpaper
worked, meaning, after I made the user.dat become user.man, whatever changes
made to the wallpaper would be forced to fall back to the "saved" setting in
the home directory upon each logon but it's not the same case for
screensaver.

Regards,
Ryan

Ah - thanks, a specific question that has a specific answer. :-)

Yes, screen-saver settings can be altered and are saved on the local
computer despite any profile settings you download to the PC. It's always
been that way and I don't know why, but it is.
