I am a little lost and need some ideas. Any help is appreciated.
Simple network of 2 PC's. One desktop and one laptop.
PC#1 is an older eMachine desktop running Win98Se
This PC is connected to a Hawking HWR54G Hi-Speed Wireless-G Router using a
CAT5 cable.
PC#2 is new Dell laptop running XP home. It has an internal network card.
Here is where I am. I have both PC's working for file and printer sharing. I
do not have a broadband connection yet (that is coming later, thus the
router) but I would like to share the dialup connection on the desktop
(PC#1) with the laptop so I can surf from both PC's at the same time. I know
it will be painfully slow, but I still want to get it setup if it is
possible.
I was thinking about using the ICS with Win98SE but I am not sure how I
could go about setting that up when the router is assigning the IP
addresses. I set this up once on a wired network without a router and I
remember having a lot of issues about having to use specific IP addresses to
make the NAT work. It has been quite a while since I did that one and I
thought I would bounce this one off of you experts before I messed it all
up. It may not even be possible, but it never hurts to ask.
Any ideas would be greatly appreciated. I am not afraid to try things but I
am no expert either so please don't be afraid to leave plenty of details for
me.
