Hi. I am running a Older Gateway G7-450 with Win98 SE. I have
recently set up a wireless 802.11b network and want to get this
computer attached. I bought a Motorola WPCI850g card to connect with
as it said that it would work under 98se. When I ran the installer it
seemed to be going ok but then it hung about 2/3 of the way through
the process.

I decided to try it the other way around, installing the card and then
going through the driver setup dialog indicating that I had the driver
on the disk. It seemed to work. The card is showing up in the device
manager BUT it is not acting at all like a wireless card. By that I
mean in the advanced settings I do not see a place to set the SSID
(though there are some settings for things like 802.11g enable/dis).
Now I have set up several W2K and XP boxen on wireless and it is
pretty brainless, but for the life of me I can find where the wireless
specific settings are in w98 and I figure that may be part of what is
not installing when the motorola install program crashed.

Thanks in advance for any advice on W98 wireless networking, I
appreciate your help.
