Win98SE ethernet to MN-700
ISP: Comcast (DHCP) IE6
Can get local networking, but no internet connection.
Can't even get the tools home page (
http://192.168.2.1)
Utility to tools home page.... greyed out.
winipcfg - adapter, base station, protocals... all fine.
Nothing wrong with the MN-700.
Must be a glitch in my Win98SE.
Sure enough, I have only two feet... but I somehow put on three socks.
Fixed it by doing this...
[NOTE: IF you don't know how to export registry keys, go here:
http://support.microsoft.com/default...h;EN-US;KBJUMP
Type in 322754 and go to 'How to Export Registry Keys' - copy/paste
1-5 and save in notepad].
Go to:
http://support.microsoft.com/default...h;EN-US;KBJUMP
Type in 241344 and then go to no.13 - export all the keys (except \smm
files) into
a folder of your choice, and then delete all the keys in no.13 (except \smm
files).
You can do no.14 with no.5 (without the pinging thing or 'e').
After you do no.5, just remove the Dial-Up protocal from the Network
Properties.
*IF* your desktop looks funky at any time after any restarts, just power off
the monitor.... and then power it back on.
(I clicked the .vxd registry keys back in, but I'm not sure if I had to
do that or not).
Everythings back to normal and my gray went away.
