WIN98SE direct cable connection

I run WIN98SE on both my Notebook and Desktop PCs.

I am trying to set up the Direct Cable Connection menu
item between the 2 PCs.

My Desktop gives me the message that it cannot find
directcc.exe

I tried a search on my Notebook and it finds directcc.exe

Can I simply copy the required exe file from the Notebook
to the Desktop?

You could, but no guarantee it'll work that way. If it were me, I'd go to
the Control Panel, then Add/Remove Programs, then the Windows Setup tab;
where I'd add DCC from the list of components in the Communications section.
