WinXP is reporting the maximum rated speed of its connection to the
Linksys router. I've seen reports that the value of 3.2 is due to a
bug in the router's firmware. The problem only affects the reported
speed, not the actual speed. A firmware upgrade might fix it.
Make sure that XP's Internet Connection Firewall is disabled. It's
for use only on a direct modem connection to the Internet, not on a
connection to a router:
1. Open the Network Connections folder.
2. Right click the local area network connection.
3. Click Properties.
4. Click Advanced.
5. Un-check the ICF box.
For the network browsing problem, try disabling the Computer Browser
service on XP:
1. Right click My Computer, and click Manage.
2. Double click Services and Applications.
3. Double click Services.
4. Double click Computer Browser. If the Service status is Started,
click Stop.
5. Set the Startup type to Disabled.
