Win98 to Windows 2003 based network

The problem is the following: After a period of inactivity
the W98 based workstation loses connect with the W2003
server as well as the network connections such as network
drives.
Also sometimes it does not log on at the first time and
requires several reboots.

If you look at the mapped drive on the Win98 box, does it have a Red X on
it?
By default, the network session stays active for 10 minutes after a
workstation stops its session with the server

In Windows 2000 and above I know that you can set the KeepConn=65536 but not
sure about Win98

net config server /autodisconnect:-1 can be set on the server
