I'm trying to set up a network using Win98 on two
computers. Both are able to connect to the internet
through the router, but they can't see each other in the
Network Neighborhood. I've tried running the
troubleshooters, but haven't been able to get them to
connect. What am I forgetting or what haven't I done?

Yeah...I'm way beyond enabling file/printer sharing. It
seems to be some problem that is "networking specific" and
beyond the networking troubleshooter. But then, that
didn't take very much, did it...

Are they both in the same workgroup and subnet? Are they getting
ipaddresses from dhcp? What are the results of "ipconfig /all"?

Hi steve I just have setup my network in win98SE.
All you need to do is set up IP adresses and gateways for both computers.
It might seems a bit complecated but it is easy.

File-setting-control panel-network
select the TCP/IP->(your network card name)
properties.
IP ADDRESS
specify IP address

Machine A: 192.168.0.1
NetMask: 255.255.255.0
Gateway: 0.0.0.0

Machine B: 192.168.0.2
NetMask: 255.255.255.0
Gateway: 0.0.0.0
Also make sure both machines are on the same work group to assure ease of
use. And note the computer names if you don't know the computer names
just goto my computer and where it says address type

"\\192.168.0.1" if your on machine B and "\\192.168.0.2" if your on
machine A

Let me know if this helps

say thanks to misnomer in 24hoursupport.helpdesk for the instructions.
for fast responce in future always post in 24hoursupport.helpdesk

thanks
