win98 Ver 1 to Ver 2

I am trying to hook up a wireless linksys network,, was
told by linksys that version 1 of win 98 has to be
upgraded to version 2,, is this up grade available online?
If yes, where can it be found??

No, it's not available on-line, and Microsoft stopped selling it years
ago. You need a Windows 98 Second Edition upgrade CD. You might be
able to find one for a few dollars at an on-line auction site,
computer show, or computer repair shop.

Great question, I have the same problem, and just returned
my Netgear usb adapter and bought a Belkin network card
only to find the same problem. The Belkin tech support
told me that microsoft offer a free upgrade to Windows 98
SE if you contact them, but you may need proof of purchase
or your serial number....if there is an online upgrade
available that would be perfect.....can someone out there

There never was, is not, and will never be a "free upgrade" for Windows 98.
