try to login as JOHN, when windows boots up it doesnt ask
for me to login at all just goes straight to the desktop,
if i go to logout, it shows no user is logged in, if i
logout, i can login, but this is a automated pos system,
and i need it to login by itself. any idea how to fix
this? i have even tried setting it to client for micrsoft
networks, when i reboot i dont get a login box. nothing
brings up a login box unless i logoff, this is a fresh
install too btw. all patches to date. Also if i try to
surf web or browse network it tells me i am not logged in.

Using REGEDIT, open up the following key:

HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\Software\Microsoft\Windows\Curr entVersion\
Network\Real Mode Net

and delete the value named "AutoLogon" if it exists.

Reboot the system and that should do it.
