win98 pci ethernet driver missing

I am trying to get a friend's computer onto our internet
at school. She has no driver cd's or anything. The pci
ethernet controller driver is missing. I figured I would
just get it off the internet, but I cannot figure out
which brand of card it is or anything. What should I
do? I dried installing DriverGuide Toolkit assuming that
it would help me figure out which driver to find, but
then she has an outdated oleaut32.dll. I found a newer
version for the program, but I cannot replace the one
already in the system file because windows is using it.
Plus, if I replace it there, won't it mess up other
things? Thanks for the help!
