Is the "collision" light on the switch constantly & excessively flashing?
If so, it might indicate faulty hardware. Try changing the switch or the
NICs or the cables (one at a time to see if it gets resolved). Collisions
on an ethernet network are OK since it's a shared media but excessive
collisions are not OK and should be investigated since it can cause network
performance issues.
