win98 machine can't open web page or resolve dns

I have a Win98 SE machine that can't open any web pages.
It is on a private network and can ping the router and
other workstations on the private network. It can also
the ping the dns (which is an external number), but it
can't ping by name. I can't open any web pages (by name
or number). I can't even open a web page that resides on
my private network. I tried installing another nic and
got the exact same results. Another strange thing is
that just for fun, I tried switching the network settings
to dhcp and it didn't get an address even though I have a
valid dhcp server on my network.

Any help would be appreicated. I'd love to get this
fixed without reinstalling everything.
