I have a couple of win98 computers I am attempting to add
to Microsoft Small Business Server and when I attempt to
enter in the 24 charicter domain name I am limited to 15
chariters and not able to finish the domain name entry.

So is there some way to force the long domain name of the
Win98 computers? Possibly via the registry?

Thank you,
John Philbin

Nope, this is a limitation of the Windows 98 network stack. You can't force
it, you can't override it, you can't work around it. Unfortunately I don't
know SBS very well, but I do know that Windows 2000 allows you to set a
second domain name for pre-2000 clients for situations like this.

I'm crossposting this reply to the SBS newsgroup so someone there can
correct me if necessary or perhaps amplify my advice with information that
fits SBS.

John/Richard:

Only enter the name of the 2nd level of the DNS domain structure:
For smallbusiness.local, you would only enter smallbusiness
