Win98fe can't be an ICS host -- that requires se and up. XP's version
of ICS is the best, so use XP as the host if at all possible.

All versions of Windows can be ICS clients.

unsure from your reply what connection does (or doesn't)
work and for what on your setup

i have an asus a7n8x deluxe mobo running winxp; it has 2
rj45 network ports, one of which i have connected it to a
netgear fa311 card on my older machine (running win 98)...
i followed the instructions that came in the readme on the
cd for the netgear device and it seemed to do as it was
meant to just by me doing what it told me, although i admit
that the instructions were pretty crap, and i just bumbled
my way through

similarly i have now managed to use the internet sharing
connection wizard with the xp machine as host, but have
been damned by the fact that zonealarm won't let me use the
established bridge unless i turn it off (or buy the pro
version i understand)... as i refuse to not have a firewall
up i guess my daughter will have to wait till i get an adsl
modem / router and can work around that glitch

the bottom line is, it can be done, but if you hope to hear
step-by-step from me how to d.i.y., i'm a disappointment

keep on trying, and best of luck!

ash
