The client doesn't "pull". It simply receives what it is given, that is an
important distinction to keep in mind. From the "Run" line in Win98 run
"Winipcfg", expand the dialog box to see all the details,...see which DHCP
Server it is receiving from.
If it is receivning from the wrong DHCP Server then the network's physical
or logical topology design has a flaw that is letting the machine find the
wrong dhcp server (or the wrong Scope on the right DHCP server). It could be
the Router forwarding the BOOTP packets is doing it incorrectly.
The other possiblility is that the DHCP server's Scope is misconfigured.
