Error: Network Password is incorrect or access to the
Domain Server is denied.

Environment: 6 Win98SE PCs, 3 Win2K Servers (YES, 3
servers for 6 PCs!, I'm taking over this client from a
previous bafoon!), Cable Modem connected to Server3 via
USB.

I attempted to connect a D-Link Broadband router to the
Cable Modem (to provide NAT security) but had to back
out. To make a long story short - The Server3 IP and G/W
were modified for the new change, and then reverted back
to original.

Ever since, Win98 can't login to the network.

THE PASSWORDS ARE FINE. The problem is more of a
Browsing/NETlogon/WINS issue.

All of the Win2K Servers can browse the entire network,
including Internet.

The Win98 PCs (after pressing cancel at the logon screen)
obtain a DHCP address from Server3, can see and connect to
the other 2 servers, can browse the Internet, but just
can't browse Server3.

WINS database shows the _MSBROWSE_ (Browse Master) as
Server3, but with the Public IP from the USB connected
Cable Modem, NOT the Private IP from the internal
network. I think this is my real issue.

Tomorrow I am going to investigate:
1. Changing binding order of NICs on Server3 - so the
Private network card is initiated first, to bind to WINS
2. Try Modifying LMHOSTS on Win98 with #DOM and domain
controller assignments
3. Try manually assigning IP information on Win98 PCs

Does this sound like the right direction to investigate?

Thank you for any helpful information! -Mike
