Hello:

I'm kind of lost on Gigabit technology and am hoping that someone can help
me.

Here is the problem. I have two PCs ( both faster then 1.5Ghz ) each of
which is equiped with an Aopen Gigabit network card and Windows 98 SE. I've
connected the two computers with a crossover cat5e network cable. I'm
trying to copy large files from one PC to the other using NetBios protocol.
I've tried fixed data rates and autodetect. Neither setting gets me above
100Mbits.

1) Is 1Gigabit data transfer possible with Windows 98 SE?
2) Do I even need a crossover cable? I've read someplace that 1Gigabit
cards do not require crossover!?
3) What else am I missing?

TIA...Chris.
