Win2K3 Server and NT 4.0

I have a current single domain. It is an NT 4.0 server running an old custom
legacy databse application. The app will not run on a 2K3 server. I want to
add an 2003 Exchange server to the network. All clients are XP Pro (and one -
Win98SE). The NT 4.0 is a PDC. Is this possible to pull off? If possible,
what kind of issues should I expect to run into?

Thanks in advance.

I would upgrade the NT domain to Active Directory. To keep the NT 4 works, install WINS on the server.

Well with lots of trouble this would be possible. Still you have to know
that Exchange requires Active Directory which would have to run on Windows
Server 2003.
Now if you want to make new server member of old domain your current PDC (NT
server) would have to be demoted to BDC.

There are also some serious limitations of such setup. As long as you have
NT domain controller (even just as BDC) you will never be able to use all
the nice features of Windows Server 2003.
