Hello not sure if this is the best place for my question but here goes.

I have a Windows 2003 domain that was upgraded from Windows 2000. I still
have the original Windows 2000 domain controller. All of my servers and
workstations show up in Network Places under the domain with the exception of
the original Windows 2000 domain controller. I was hoping for some
troubleshooting suggestions to make this server show up as it should.

Thanks for any responses.

First check the tcp/ip properties in your LAN connection and
verify file and print sharing and client for microsoft networks
are checked. Next open a dos prompt on the problem DC
and run net view. Do you see the server in the list? Post any
errors.

Thanks. Client for MS Networks and F&PS are both enabled. When I run net
view from the problem win2k server I receive "System error 6118" has
occurred. The list of servers for this workgroup is not available". When I
run "net view \\problemservername" it gives me a list of all shares on the
server.

Also I can "net view" from the windows 2003 DC and it gives me a list of
every server and workstation with the exception of the problem windows 2000
DC.

Ahh, I also have realized that, whilst this server is configured as a global
catalog, running Exchange best practices analyzer only sees the other global
catalog, does not recognize this server as a GC.

I am only interested in what you see from the problem
server. Make sure NetBIOS is enabled then run
ipconfig /all from a command prompt and tell us what
node type is listed. The 6118 error usually means your
name resolution isn't correct. Are you running WINS?
Can we assume the problem server is on the same subnet?
Run net view again then immediately afterwards run nbtstat
-c. What do you see? Make sure nothing is blocking
NetBIOS e.g., router or firewall.

I forgot to mention you should check your DNS settings.
