To disable forced signing of SMB, open Local Security Policy [secpol.msc]
and go to security settings/local policies/security options and the option
for Microsoft network server: digitally sign communications(always), set to
DISABLED [not undefined]. Netbios over tcp/ip should be enabled by default
and left that way in the network. It can be checked in network adapter
tcp/ip properties/advanced/wins. You should also have a wins server on the
network and the W2003 server and tithe wins server need to also be wins
client as configured in tcp/ip properties or via DHCP scope. I think your
password problem is because you need to create local user accounts on the
W2003 Server for all users that need to access it with logon/password
matching what they are logging onto their computers [Microsoft networking
credentials for W98 computers]. When you create your domain controller make
sure you refer to the last link below to make sure that your dns is
configured correctly for the domain. --- Steve
