Win2003 server and WinXP workstations

I have a new network setup with a Win2003 server as the
PDomain. WinXP Pro workstations logging successfully into
the domain. Drives mapped to the server successfully as
well. The problem is once I am logged in everything works
fine for a while but then I lose the connection to my
server. This happens 3-4 times per day.
I go into "My Computer" and the hour glass never goes away.
Eventually the computer locks up with a "not responding"
error on the task. When I go into My Network Place" and
try to navigate to the server, again the same issue occurs.
The only way to regain server access is to logoff the PC
and log back in then all is fine again. What is causing
this lose of server access? How can I fix it?

PLease someone reply to this one. I have left other
problem requests and never get anyone to respond. Even a
"I am looking into it" would be nice.

Thanks.

Randy

could be a bad network card.
could be some service that keeps failing, try going into the event viewer
and see if there's something marked with an X that catches your eye around
the time the networking stops.

Thanks Mike,
I have scheduled to replace network cards. I have checked
the event viewer and the only service that is failing is at
server start up. The service is the time client not
finding a time source. But have yet been able to fix this
as well. Any ideas here. I will post results of card
replacements.

Thanks

I seem to remember time synchronization being an integral part of Kerberos
authentication... ? Try double-clicking the time on your taskbar; then
instead of changing the date/time, choose the "internet time" tab at the
top, mark the box for "automatically synchronize with an internet time
server", and put the IP address in of an NTP-enabled router (or another NTP
source). Although time synch should be automatically happening if the pc in
question is a member of the domain...
