I have win 98 SE with linksys wireless G 32 bit cardbus (WPC54G) on
laptop talking to win XP home with linksys wireless G usb adapter
(WUSB54G) on desktop.
Everything is good, shares + transfers in both directions, VNC in both
directions. ICS set up on desktop so laptop can access internet.
firewalls and antivirus on both desktop and laptop.
Only fly in ointment is cannot yet set up WEP, but I'm sure I can beat
it.
things to check:
are laptop card slots PCMCIA 16 bit or cardbus 32 bit? I think 80211.g
only works with cardbus 32bit
make sure both PCs meet min specs for adapters. I was stiched up
recently by a company selling wireless adaptors that were advertised to
work with win 98 but failed to state min spec was P1 300mhz (my OLD, OLD
laptop was 266 mhz). If the vendor does not state min spec, look up
adapter web site for user manual etc.
also, the USB adapter mentioned above WILL NOT work with win 98,
can't help with iMac, sorry.
hope that helps
