Win XP pro compatability with MN-700

I have Win XP Pro sp3 and a MN-700 base station. when trying to install the
software I recieve an error "Microsoft Broadband Networking has a known
compatibility issue with this version of Windows. For an update that is
compatible with this version of Windows, contact Microsoft Broadband
Networking." I've checked the manual and I meet the requirements. The
software does install, but the station cannot be found. I triple checked my
wires, reset the station, and turned off my windows firewall.

Please help, stumped

you don't need the software. open a web browser and go to
192.168.2.1
