Win XP Networking Software

I have a winXPHome machine I wish to add to an existing
network with two win98 machines. When running the XP
software on the laptop I receive a message after restart
that says my networking hardware could not be detected.
The desktop netcard is a Linksys card, the laptop is a
Linksys pcmcia card, and the hub is an SMC Etherez hub.
solutions? thanks.

The problem is probably an improperly written driver program for the
Linksys pcmcia card that doesn't give the responses that the XP
networking software is looking for.

However, there's no need to run XP's networking software on any of the
computers. I've written a web page with complete details:
