Hello All,

Got a Home Network connected via a Hub which is working like a dream.
Configuaration is:-

Bradband to PC1 - To Hub - To PC's 2 & 3 - All running XP

Have just added a laptop running Win98 successfully

Now I have managed to get me hands on a iMac G3 running Mac 9.2 - Question
is - will this Network via the Hub? No idea on how to use or configure
Macs - it's my new project so any advice gratefully received

TIA

Rich

Assuming PC1 is running ICS and the iMac is set up as a DHCP client,
the iMac *should* work OK on the Internet. Getting it to network with
the PCs, i.e. file and printer sharing, may be more of a problem. If
the latter is required, suggect you visit http://www.thursby.com/.

BTW: With that many devices on your LAN you should consider using a
router to share the Internet connection.

The last time I set up file and printer sharing between PCs and Macs was
some time ago. I used File and Printer Services for Macintosh on a Windows
2000 server to set up a file share and printer share which was accessible by
the Mac. Not sure whether you can do this with a client operating system
such as XP, or whether you would need to upgrade to a Server OS.

old macs: you need an app called "DAVE" (commercial) to do this to convert
appletalk to TCP/IP.
later ones, you just set up a SAMBA server on the mac and it does the rest.
