I have the problem that a windows xp wifi client sometimes doesn't recieve
an ip address.
The client gives itself an 169.254.*.* address. If I leave the client
running then after about 15 minutes it does receive an ip address.
This only happens when the client is connected wireless.

The strange thing is that the client is showing up nicely in the mac-address
table of my core switch, also in the right vlan.
I have 2 windows 2000 dhcp servers running in that vlan with plenty of ip
addresses available.

Had anyone seen this problem before?

How does your clients receive IP, through a router? If so is it Cisco?
I actually encoutered this problem this morning. The DHCP scope leases
were used up. I set the exclude list higher and the Client was able to
receive an IP.
