Hey guys,

I'm trying to simply hook up to pcs (1) win XP pro (2) win 2000. I ran the
network setup wizard on XP but it couldn't run on 2000!

Anyway, both have the same workgroup name and have obtain 'IP address
automatically', also firewalls and windows ICF disabled???????? All I see is
network cable is unplugged!!

I even manually set IP address:
(1) 192.168.0.1, 255.255.255.0 default gateway 192.168.0.1
(2) 192.168.0.2, 255.255.255.0 default gateway 192.168.0.1

So... how do I solve this and is it suppose to say network cable unplugged
if it's plugged in and simply not configured properly?

Thanks in advance,

sham126

Don't set a machine to be its own gateway - it will get confused :-)
And don't use manual addresses if you intend to use ICS - it won't work
(although you should be able to get the two machines sharing files
without problems).

As you don't mention a hub I guess you're using a single cable - are you
sure it's a crossover cable? Regular cables are straight-through, and
won't work with this setup.
