Win 98SE Shut Down Issue

Dear Experts,

Currently facing a prloblem when shutting down Win98 SE only when i log into
the network which seems apparent on all new HP Compaq D330 HT models.

If i disconnect the network cable from the port ,the system shutdowns fine
expect for when the network cable is plugged in.

Went through alot of websites looking at clues,not fortunate to fix this.

Wish somebody could guide me to troubleshoot this issue.

Pls advice/guide.
