win 98se network logon?

ok, i have a win98 SE box, and when i start it up it does the logon to
network thing. unfortunately it will accept any pw to start. what do
i need to change so it so it will require a pw to log on?

win9x doesn't function like that ...you can hit cancel and still access your
computer (login is for networking only)

check here http://www.dougknox.com/ look on the left for "security" ,
be very carefull ...you can lock yourself out of your computer

thanks for the site info, i'll give it a look. but your wrong about
the hit cancel to logon. i have two other 98 boxes (more recent
installations) and you can hit cancel 'til your fingers bleed and your
not getting in, and 98 won't start, at all... unless you go to safe
mode. i set the two newer boxes up so a pw was req'd, but not the
oldest one. any thoughts?

No your right you CAN just hit cancel and win 98 will let
you on

Do you have the primary network logon set to Microsoft
Family Logon?
