I am no expert, but I think you need to completely remove
the 3com NIC software and hardware before you install the
Netgear wireless adapter. I recently changed one of my Win98se
laptops from wireless to wired and that was the procedure I
ended up following. (Remove existing NIC before installing
the other NIC.)
