Win 98SE client and SBS 2003 server

I am upgrading from a Win2K server to an SBS 2003 server.
The domain name is new.

All the Win2K and XP clients have no problem logging into
the new domain, but the Win 98SE clients are all having
problems.

"No domain server was available to validate your password."

I can ping from the client by name and IP to the server.

The server and client are on the same subnet - 10.0.x.x.

From the Windows Explorer on the client, I can see the
domain and the server, but when I click on it I get "The
computer or sharename could not be found".

I have dsclient installed that I got from the Win2K disk.

Any ideas?

TIA
Rick

Try using your domain security policy and disabling the digitally sign
communications (always) policy.

Also, if the clients are on a different subnet, the problem could be with
name resolution.

Strongly recommend to fully qualify your domain name. On word domain names
are a thing of the past.

Thanks Rob,

I figured out a fix anyway.

I had "Use DHCP for WINS resolution" checked on the WINS tab. I changed
this to "Enable WINS resolution" and entered the WINS server IP.

The DHCP server was providing the WINS server IP address, but somehow this
allowed the Win 98SE clients to logon.

Thanks for your advise.
