I am using NetBEUI to network Windows 98 and Windows 2000 through a hub. The
2000 PC shows the LAN icon and indicates that data was sent, but none
received. It also cannot see the 98 PC.
The 98 PC allows logging to the network on start-up, but cannot browse the
network. It also will not allow folders to be shared.
Network setup details include: common workgroup, Client for Microsoft
Networks, File and Printer sharing, not using any domain, and NIC's bound to
NetBEUI. The 2000 PC has the 98 user's name and password.
In the 2000 PC, do I use the computer name for the 98, or the user's name
that is using the 98?
Similarly, do I have to setup the user or computer name for the 2000 PC on
the 98 PC? If so, where do I do that?
What else could I be doing wrong?
