Actually, the 169.254.x.x is reserved for automatic private IP
addressing...which is what a system will default to when it is set to
receive an IP from a DHCP server and a DHCP server is unavailable.
Agree that using 192.168.0.xxx and subnet mask of 255.255.255.0 is a
better choice.
Just a thought...
