Hi, Simon.
There's no need to try a long list of complicated steps that have
nothing to do with Windows XP. There's probably no need to edit the
registry. There's certainly no need to look for professional help,
because fixing Windows 98-XP network problems isn't that hard.
Run the Network Setup Wizard on the XP Home computer, which will fully
enable file sharing. In most cases, that's all that's needed.
If that doesn't fix the problem, make sure that the Guest account is
properly set up for network access without a password on the XP Home
computer:
1. Click Start | Run, type "net user guest /active:yes" in the box,
and click OK.
2. Click Start | Run, type "control userpasswords2" in the box, and
click OK.
3. Click Guest.
4. Click Reset Password.
5. Click OK without entering a new password.
