Win 98 Client does not see Win2000 server

Have you tried setting up a hosts file in the win98 client
machines? I had a problem with a W2K server like that.
Networking would work sporadically, sometimes the clients
would map to the server and sometimes they wouldn't. When
they would map, they would only map using IP instead of
host name. Once I set up the host file, my machines
connected just fine.
