Dont know if this is in the right place but anyway..here goes

Recently I upgraded my internet package to Tesco broadband. It installed OK on
my XP laptop but when i try to install it on my Packard Bell club 30 desktop
(Win 98) a message appears - Application error, could not create entry ("
Tesco Broadband")
Anyhow..after phoning numerous times they told me that it was the USB port
which was not detecting the speedtouch modem and that if i tried a wireless
modem/router combo it should work.
So....i bought a netgear DG834GT but it doesnt seem to b being detected
either and i still cannot access broadband on my desktop PC.
Is the software for broadband not compatible with my computer or is it the
USB and ethernet connections?

P.S. i installed a network card which i was assured would work in my computer
and it has been recognised and installed

You should ensure you have all the USB updates for 98. This site may help
you resolve some problems.
http://www.usbman.com/
Click on the link on the left hand side for your operating system.
In his info he talks about the Device Manager and re-initialising the
entries. I have done this and it helped but I wasn't having the problem you
have. Anyway, give it a go and see what happens.
Thinking about it, what version of USB are you using 1.1 or 2.0. USB 2.0 has
more power available at the interface, it could be that the USB device needs
the 500ma that 1.1 does not supply.
