I had a similar problem when I networked my Win98SE
computer to my new WinXP computer. After literally weeks
of trying to find solutions, a tech support person
mentioned that it could be my anti-virus program or my
firewall. It turned out that I had to let Zone Alarm
know that it was okay for these two machines to
communicate. You might want to look into that if you
have a firewall.
