I recently got a wireless DSL router from 2Wire for my Yahoo DSL service. My
wireless network is WEP secured. I have a neighbor who is running an
unsecured wireless network on his Comcast connection.

I use a Dell D600 notebook with a built-in wireless "card" running WIndows
2000, SP4. My notebook automatically connects to my neighbor's unsecured
connection every time. How do I get Win 2K to ignore that unsecured
connection and try to connect to my secure network?

Since Windows 2000 doesn't have Wireless Zero Config, you'll have to use whatever control application was installed for your wireless adapter. It should allow settings for only connect to the "listed" networks, secure networks, etc.

Thanks Doug.

I've got a support request in to the folks at 2Wire to try to figure out why
their wireless client configuration tool can't see my Cisco wireless PCI
adapter that came with my Dell notebook. Maybe if they can do something about
that I'll be able to connect.

I just wanted to make sure there wasn't some well-known fact about wireless
and Win2K that I was missing.

Thanks again.

You might want to check Dell or Cisco for the configuration software for the card. The 2Wire software may just be to communicate with their router.
