Hi,

Anyone else getting a C++ runtime error when trying to
run the MN720 and router SP2 upgrade with Win 2003 Server?

Thanks - Zack

The software for the Microsoft wireless networking cards & routers is
not supported on your OS. Either uninstall the software or change the
OS to something older.

That doesn't make any sense because the MSBNSoftware will
load and install properly. I've been running it for the
last 2 months perfectly fine. Why wouldn't the update
support my OS?

The error he is getting has nothing to do with wireless. I get the
same exact error with the wired mn-100 update. Mine was also working
perfectly with Windows 2003 server with XP Pro Clients. In fact it
still works. The problem is that the update won't install on the
server but it does on the workstations. The last update installed
perfectly on all machines including the Windows 2003 server.

Once again the software is NOT supported on Windows 2003. It is only
needed to configure wireless computers that are running Windows 98,
Windows 98 SE, Windows 2000, & Windows ME. Otherwise it is of no real
value.

As to why it doesn't work you would need to contact Microsoft technical
support.

I really don't know what the heck you are talking about. There was a
patch released for the mn-100 WIRED router as well. That patch is
supposed to fix some issues that have nothing to do with wireless.
Now, once again, the software was working fine on Windows 2003 Server
BEFORE I attempted to apply the latest patch. I DID apply a previous
patch with no problems. After I purchased the mn-100 router a MS
support rep told me he saw no reason that it would NOT work on Windows
2003 Server, so while it does NOT suprise me that it is not officially
supported (hell, what software does officallly support Windows 2003
Server?) the original software and first patch did install just fine.

If you have something more valuable to contribute I would love to hear
it. Otherwise ......

From the readme for the update:
http://www.microsoft.com/hardware/br...704_readme.htm
The Microsoft Broadband Networking software does not support Windows Server
2003.

As you discovered, this update, which is software, not only is not
supported, but also does not work on Windows Server 2003.

No new firmware has been released for the MN-100, since last year. If you
have an MN-100 that does not have version 0.1.11.017, you can do the update
from a computer that is running a supported OS, or you can get the .DLF file
from the extracted files folder and do a manual update.
