Win 2003 SBS for webserver?

Is there a problem with me saving $400 by getting SBS instead of the full
version of Windows 2003 server? I just need a server, separate from my
domain and on my DMZ of the firewall, to be accessed by the public and only
one or two web designers using Frontpage 2003. I don't think we will use
Exchange except for *maybe* creating distribution groups to forward for
links on the website, but we will probably just use html forms and group the
addresses there or something instead. Any problems with this setup?

Many thanks!

Have you considered Windows 2003 Server Web Edition which has a suggested retail of $399.00 USD

If you feel your current issue is a results of installing
a Service Pack or security update, please contact

If the problem can be shown to have been caused by a
security update, then there is usually no charge for the call.

Yes, that's a must better option over SBS if you're only looking to host a
web site.

You really should ask this in the Public.Windows.Server.SBS newsgroup. Surely
you know that SBS must be the root of any forest it is in. Does putting it in
the "DMZ" remove it from your domain's forest? I don't know, so you should ask
there. I expect the SBS experts will go ballistic at this suggestion, so be
prepared.

a) I'd use Exchange since you bought it - it's great. I don't like
supporting PST files and POP accounts, myself.
b) Do not put your domain controller in a DMZ
c) Do not host public websites on your LAN
d) Either get the Windows webserver edition or another web server (heck,
doesn't have to be Windows or IIS at all, you know) and put it in the DMZ if
you want to host this in-house, or get a cheap and cheerful external web
hosting account.

Yup. we use it already for corporate

> b) Do not put your domain controller in a DMZ

If I"m running SBS it would be in the DMZ and it's own domain, separate from
our corporate

Right

But then I don't get exchange for my DMZ domain
