WiFi Printer Network

A friend of mine has just purchased a Hewlett Packard combined
printer, scanner and copier machine; works fine but from a convenience
point of view I was thinking of connecting it to a WiFi adapter.

Anyone used one of these combined devices as a network printer, I
appreciate the scanner facility would not work.

To do this you'd need more than a WiFi adapter, a WiFi printer
server *should* do the trick.

HP make their own print servers add-ins for some models which may
be worth considering.

If you choose a 3rd party print server, check with the mfr for
compatibility before you buy.

does it have an ethernet connection ? the compatibility of wireless
USB print servers with printers is usually very limited especially
those of the two way variety (think ink tank montoring etc) so I would
look hard at the device you propose to see what printers it supports
and to what extent.

Yes, I should have clarified that I meant a Printer server.

Almost certain it does not have an ethernet adapter.

Before spending money on a printer server, check it it would be cheaper
to sell the existing printer and buy one with built-in WiFi. They tend
to be the more expensive top of the range models, but you may find that
adding the cost of a print server puts you up to that price range
anyway. You didn't say which model it was, and there is quite a large
range to choose from.

Not my printer, it is a friend's set up and I think she is happy with
the printer.
